How can I enjoy my POD pea protein?
How do I prepare pea protein?
Your POD pea protein may be a little more lumpy than your whey protein or whey isolate drink. Don’t worry, it’s still possible to make it an enjoyable and smooth experience! 🥰
One serving (one full scoop) of your POD pea protein is best enjoyed with 6-8 ounces of cold water or ice cold water! Since we skipped emulsifiers to help keep your pea protein lean and clean, drinking this with hot water is a no-no!
In addition to cold water, it’s best to mix this with a handy-dandy shaker bottle! It takes just a bit more time shaking your bottle than usual to achieve a smooth drink. If this isn’t accessible, a blender is a fine substitute for mixing! You can also mix it in a glass with a spoon, but you may expect “lumps” or flavor bombs with this method.
You don’t have to feel limited about enjoying your plant-based protein as just a drink, too! Feel free to use it as an ingredient. We encourage you to experiment by adding pea protein to your favorite shakes or recipes! The sky’s the limit! 🙌🏼
When's the best time to drink pea protein?
While protein shakes are typically recommended post-workout, feel free to enjoy them any time! ⏰
You can have some in the morning, before bedtime, or whenever you’re craving for a delicious guilt-free, high-protein treat. 😋
How many servings a day is suggested?
One serving a day should be good if you have other protein sources in your diet like meat, eggs, dairy, and other whole foods. 🍳
But on days when you feel like your protein consumption from whole foods is lower than usual, you can increase your protein powder supplementation to 2 or even 3 servings, as needed. 🥄
Alternatively, if you're on a plant-based diet, it might be wise to enjoy more than one serving! Plant-based food don't often have high protein content, so supplementing with more protein will be essential – especially if you're an active individual. 🌱
And remember, adequate protein is needed on both training days and rest days. Getting enough protein is essential for your body to continuously repair and build muscles! 💤
How much protein do I actually need per day?
Consistent research and studies recommend a consumption of 0.7 to 0.9 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight for active individuals. 🏋️♀️
To illustrate, a 100 lb. human will ideally be consuming 70 to 90 grams of protein per day from their food sources. 🌱
